Nifty 50 is a stock market index consisting of 50 publicly traded companies listed on the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE). It is considered a barometer of the Indian equity market and is widely used to measure the performance of the broader market.
The index is calculated using a free-float market capitalization-weighted method, where the level of the index reflects the total market value of all stocks in the index relative to a particular base period.
Nifty 50 is considered a benchmark index for the Indian stock market and is often used as a basis for index funds and exchange-traded funds.
