3. Thousand Lights Mosque

This multi-domed mosque, which is an iconic place of worship for local Muslims, literally lights up the Royapettah area of Chennai. It is believed that in old times, about 1000 lights were required to illuminate the hall of this mosque, hence it has been named Thousand Lights Mosque.

That said, the place looks absolutely spectacular when fully lit: hence, one of the most popular places to visit in Chennai at night. With two minarets standing at a height of approximately 64 feet, this mosque displays the excellence of medieval architectural style.
